But many employer-sponsored plans provide only a minimal amount of coverage - not enough to cover all the bills and other day-to-day costs your family faces when you’re gone.

  • Choose your level of protection – from $25,000 to $200,000 – you select the amount of protection you want to purchase.
  • Premium and benefits are locked-in for 10 years – there’s no increase to your premium or reduction in benefits due to age. Coverage cannot be cancelled or changed by the company.
  • Pays in addition to any other benefits you may have – because employer-sponsored plans rarely provide the full protection you need.
  • No medical exam required for coverage up to and including $100,000. Acceptance is usually based on your answers to a few health questions. If needed, a brief medical exam can be completed at your home or office. This exam is performed by a paramedic who reviews your medical history, checks height/weight, blood pressure and collects blood and urine samples. Acceptance into this plan is subject to medical insurability as determined by The Hartford1.
  • Spouse or domestic partner are also eligible to apply.
  • Premiums are waived if your union goes on strike – payment of your premium is waived for up to three months if you are involved in a union-sanctioned strike, lock-out or involuntary layoff lasting 30 days or more.  Not available for all unions or in all states.
  • Pays full benefits for both death by accident or illness anywhere in the world – while at work or away from work. And benefits do not reduce with age.
  • Accidental Death Benefit – Should death be the result of a covered accident any place in the world, including your workplace, your family would receive an additional $15,000. This benefit covers you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.*
