The older you get, the harder it is to get life insurance that is both sound and economical. In fact, many plans require you to re-apply at the end of the plan’s term and modify your premium and benefits accordingly. But why pay more for less?

Here’s an opportunity to protect your family’s financial security without ever having to reapply for benefits – and at age 70, when the policy terminates, you have the option to convert to the UnionSecure Senior Life plan, with no medical questions.

And you also get financial protection when you need it the most - when you are still alive. The Term-to-70 Life plan provides a Living Benefit feature, which gives you immediate access to your benefits if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness*. Why wait, when you need the money now? Take up to 80% from your benefit coverage while you are still alive. No extra fees or penalties.

Additionally, the Term-to-70 plan provides an Accidental Death Benefit. Should death be the result of a covered accident any place in the world, including your workplace, your family will receive an additional $15,000. 

Clear and simple, the UnionSecure plan pays.

  1. Choose your level of protection – from benefits paying $25,000 to $250,000, you select the amount of protection you want to purchase.
  2. Living benefit - Receive up to 80% payout of your life insurance benefit if you suffer a terminal illness.* This allows you to get up to 80% of your benefit money when you need it the most.
  3. Accidental Death Benefit - Should death be the result of a covered accident anyplace in the world, including your workplace, your family would receive an additional $15,000. This benefit covers you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  4. Pays in addition to any other benefits you may have – because employer-sponsored plans rarely provide the full protection you need.
  5. Spouse or domestic partner are also eligible to apply.
  6. Premiums are waived when insured is terminally ill.
  7. Premiums are waived while on strike – you do not have to pay your premium for up to three months if you are involved in a union-sanctioned strike, lock-out or involuntary layoff lasting 30 days.  This benefit is not available in all states or for all unions. 
  8. Pays full benefits for both death by accident or illness anywhere in the world – while at work or away from work. And benefits do not reduce with age.
  9. Cannot be terminated – for any reason other than non-payment of premium, if you reach age 70, if your union notifies UnionSecure that you are no longer a member, or if the group policy is no longer in effect.
  10. Coverage without re-application, underwriting, or changes to your benefits until age 70 – when you can choose to move to the Senior Life plan without medical questions or an exam.

How Much It Costs

The Term-to-70 Life Insurance plan offers rates in 5-year age bands. Rates are based on your age when you purchase the policy – this is to assure that you are getting the most benefits from your premium dollar. Rates increase upon entry to a new 5-year age band as shown on the chart below.
