1. Privacy/Treatment of Information or Data Transmitted to Us

Protecting privacy and confidentiality is a top concern for UnionSecure insurance.  Personal information transmitted to us will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

UnionSecure insurance prohibits any e-mail transmission to be sent, or caused to be sent, over the Internet to any e-mail address that makes use of a forged header or deceptive addressing, or which attempts in any manner to disguise the source of the e-mail.  If you receive an email you believe is fraudulently claiming to represent UnionSecure programs, please forward the email to fraud@unionprivilege.org.

2. Liability

UnionSecure programs are a joint effort of the Union Labor Life Insurance Company ("ULLICO") and Union Privilege.  The AFL-CIO sponsors the life, accident and supplemental health insurance programs offered through UnionSecure.  The AFL-CIO Mutual Benefit Fund (the "Fund") is the group policyholder of the insurance policies.  The products described on this site are underwritten by The Hartford Life Insurance Company and The Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company, and their affiliates (collectively, "The Hartford").

YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT

a.       Your use of the service is at your sole risk. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. ULLICO, Union Privilege, The Hartford, the AFL-CIO, and the Fund expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

b.       ULLICO, Union Privilege, The Hartford, the AFL-CIO, and the Fund make no warranty that (i) the service will meet your requirements, (ii) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, (iii) the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable, (iv) the quality of any products, services, information, or other material purchased or obtained by you through the service will meet your expectations, and (v) any errors in the software will be corrected.

c.       Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the service is done at your own discretion and risk and that you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from the download of any such material.

d.       No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you through or from the service shall create any warranty not expressly stated in the terms and conditions.

e.       You expressly understand and agree that ULLICO, Union Privilege, The Hartford, the AFL-CIO, and the Fund shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if any of these organizations has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from: (i) the use or the inability to use the service; (ii) the cost of procurement of substitute goods and services resulting from any goods, data, information or services purchased or obtained or messages received or transactions entered into through or from the service; (iii) unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data; (iv) statements or conduct of any third party on the service; or (v) any other matter relating to the service.

f.         Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages. Accordingly, some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

3. Proprietary Rights & Restricted Use

5. Disclaimer

This Web site explains the general purpose of the insurance described but in no way changes or affects the UnionSecure insurance master policies as actually issued. In the event of a discrepancy between information on this Web site and any certificate issued to you under the UnionSecure program, the terms of such master policy or certificate apply. Complete details are in the Certificate of Insurance issued to each insured individual.

Benefits may vary and this program may not be available to residents of all states or in all unions. This Web site is controlled, operated and intended for use only in the United States of America.  We do not represent that materials on this Web site are appropriate or made available for use outside of the United States of America.

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflicts of laws provisions.

8. Entire Agreement

This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties hereto and there are no other agreements, written or oral, between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement.

These terms and conditions apply only to your use of unionsecure.com and do not change or alter any other agreement or contract between you and The Hartford.
